Commercial HVAC Design.

Load calculations, equipment selection, and mechanical design coordination for commercial projects. The architect operates independently under their own seal.

Design Coordination Scope

Icebox coordinates the mechanical design process for commercial HVAC projects. This includes performing heating and cooling load calculations, selecting equipment from the appropriate manufacturer line, laying out duct routing and system configurations, and coordinating with the project architect and engineer to align the mechanical scope with the overall building design.

The goal of design coordination is to produce a complete mechanical scope that can be executed cleanly during installation, with equipment properly sized and positioned for the building's operational requirements.

What Icebox Handles vs. What the Architect Coordinates

Icebox Handles

  • Heating and cooling load calculations
  • Equipment selection and specification
  • Duct layout and system configuration
  • Mechanical coordination with the project team
  • Equipment procurement coordination

Architect Coordinates Independently

  • Sealed and stamped drawings under their own professional seal
  • PE and RA professional services under their own license
  • Final sealed-document delivery directly to the client or AHJ
  • Code review and compliance sign-off under their professional responsibility

The architect operates independently under their own seal and professional license. Icebox does not provide PE or RA professional services directly.

Sealed-Document Delivery

Sealed and stamped construction documents are delivered by the architect directly. The architect operates independently under their own seal and is solely responsible for the content, accuracy, and delivery of sealed documents. Icebox provides the mechanical design coordination inputs that support the architect's work but does not produce, stamp, or deliver sealed documents.
